Genesis prices 2019 G70

Genesis priced the G70 on par with the BMW 3 Series. Coincidence? Not a chance.

Hyundai's upmarket Genesis division has released pricing information for the G70, its entry-level model. The 3 Series-fighting sedan will reach showrooms as a 2019 model.

On sale now across the nation, the G70 carries a base price of $34,900. That figure corresponds to a rear-wheel drive model powered by a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine bolted to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Buyers need to add a $995 destination charge which bumps the base price up to $35,895.

The list of standard features includes LED rear lights, heated door mirrors, a push-button ignition, a 12-way power-adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery on the steering wheel and on the shift knob, plus leatherette upholstery on the seats. Bluetooth connectivity and an eight-inch screen for the infotainment system are also included.

Selecting all-wheel drive bumps the G70's price by $2,000. Motorists who want to get behind the wheel of a G70 with the 3.3-liter V6 need to plan on spending at least $43,750 for a rear-wheel drive model and $45,750 for an all-wheel drive car.

The $34,900 starting price places the G70 exactly on par with the BMW 3 Series, one of its main rivals. Alternatively, Audi charges $36,000 for the A4 while the Mercedes-Benz C-Class starts at $40,250. And, the G70 will inevitably face internal competition from the $32,900 Kia Stinger.
