New York LIVE: 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster

The 991-generation Speedster will fetch $275,000.

Porsche has revealed the production 2019 911 Speedster at the New York auto show.

Based on the 991-generation chassis, the new Speedster borrows its 4.0-liter flat six from the GT3 and GT3 RS. The naturally aspirated engine boasts 502 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque, with a 9,000-rpm redline.

The Speedster can launch from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds and hit a top track speed of 192 mph.

Designers have distinguished the car with a low-cut front windshield and side windows, paired with a manually operated lightweight fabric top. A pair of 'streamliners' atop the rear decklid reinforce the Speedster look.

To keep weight down, carbon fiber has been used to build the front trunk lid, front fenders and rear decklid. Carbon ceramic brakes are about half the weight of traditional cast iron rotors, while air conditioning is omitted as standard but can be added as a no-cost option.

The 2019 Speedster is no cheap date with a price tag around $275,000. Deliveries are expected to begin late this year.
