Photos of new Volvo S80 appear in newspaper

A Swedish newspaper has published photos of what appears to be the next-generation Volvo S80. The vehicle shown looks to be a near-production unit. The photos show a "V8 AWD" badge, confirming speculation that Volvo might use its Yamaha-sourced V8 in the luxury sedan. Currently, the 320 horsepower engine is only available in the automaker's XC90 SUV. The car maintains several of Volvo's standard design cues, with clear influences from the S40 and C70 models. The interior appears more fluid than anything Volvo has done before. It borrows the "floating console" concept from the S40, but has a more luxurious appearance. Industry insiders expect Volvo to officially unveil the car in January.
