Studio Torino turns Porsche Boxster into 420hp rocket

Edmunds got behind the wheel of the Studio Torino RK Spyder, a roadster based on the Porsche Boxster, with subtly tweaked visuals and a 420-horsepower supercharged Porsche flat-six mounted behind the driver and passenger. This 3.8-liter engine comes from the new 911 and has been modified by the renowned Porsche tuning firm of Ruf, based in Pfaffenhausen, Germany. "At speed is when the RK Spyder looks best. Outside of Turin, away from traffic jams, the car comes alive, with an engine roar that sounds like a T-Rex." Swaths of red stretch from the rear tail lights, mimicking the paint job of the Porsche 550 Spyder that won the 1954 Carrera Panamericana road race. Studio Torino was founded January 1, 2005 by Alfredo Stola. The Stola engineering and design firm has, for decades, assisted major auto manufacturers in the creation of show cars. Maybach's stunning Exelero coupe was the final project Alfredo Stola had his hands on before selling the company.
