NYPD adds Dodge Charger to fleetby Nick Aziz
NYPD Police Commissioner Ray Kelly announced Monday the department would begin testing 15 new Dodge Chargers on regular patrols this week. Kelly suggested the new cars would be ordered by the hundreds to supplement the 3,000 Chevy Impalas and Ford Crown Vics that currently bear the NYPD insignia. The car 340 horsepower features a top speed of 150 mph, and the police edition has an engine oil cooler for long sprints down the highway at such speeds. The car can also operate in "stealth mode," where all the interior lights are dimmed to look like the car is turned off.
