Infiniti launches G37 Sedan, EX37 crossover for Europe
Infiniti has revealed its 2009 G37 Sedan and EX37 crossover for the European market. While we haven't heard definitively yet, it appears the G37 Sedan and EX37 will be sold in Europe only, rather than replacing the G35 Sedan and EX35 in the United States.
The G37 Sedan and EX35 have the same engine as the popular G37 Coupe sold here in North America. The difference is the motor has been detuned from 330 horsepower to 306. As a result, the G37 Sedan bound for Europe is pretty much equal in performance to the 3.5-liter G35 Sedan sold in America. Interestingly, the G37 Sedan actually has less torque than its G35 counterpart -- 258 pound-feet instead of 270.
The EX37, meanwhile, is slightly superior than the EX35 in terms of horsepower and torque -- 306 hp versus 297 horsepower, and 258 pound-feet versus 253 lb-ft.
As mentioned above, it's not known if the U.S. will get these revised models for the 2009 model year (or later), but recent rumors suggest Infiniti will stick with the 3.5-liter V6 for the North American models.
