VW recalls 410,000 Passats

Volkswagen has announced the recall of every gasoline-powered Passat sold in the U.S. from 1999 to 2005 -- some 410,000 vehicles. Moreover, the recall isn't just for one issue. Some Passats recalled to VW dealerships will have three potential defects checked.

For Volkswagen Passats equipped with an automatic transmission, dealers will inspect the car's firewall. VW said that there is the possibility that some cars' firewalls could be damaged near the catalytic converter, in which case the dealer would add more shielding.

Passats equipped with VW's 1.8L turbo-four will be checked for a faulty fuel line.

Lastly, VW dealers will also be checking all-wheel drive Passats for damaged fuel tank ventilation valves.

Despite the plethora of potential defects, no injuries or accidents have been linked to the recall issues.
