Corvette Centennial Concept: "zero intention to produce"

The Chevrolet Corvette Centennial Concept hasn't even been unveiled yet, but thanks to numerous photo leaks, the exotic show car has become one of GM's worst kept secrets. With speculation it might foreshadow the next-gen C7 Corvette, we decided to ask Vice Chairman Bob Lutz if there are any plans for production.

Leftlane: "Is there any significance to the Chevrolet Corvette Centennial concept, aside from the role in Transformers 2?"

Mr. Lutz: "No, I would say that is in the realm of 'pure concept.' At this point, there's zero intention to produce."

Of course, Mr. Lutz also recently told us the new Camaro began as a "pure concept" without production ambitions, so it's possible this Corvette still has a future. For now, though, the show car's purpose in life is to celebrate 100 years of motoring history at GM.

The vehicle will likely debut at the Los Angeles auto show in November, though it could arrive some time sooner or later. As noted, it will have a starring role in "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen," a Paramount/Dreamworks flick set to hit theaters next year.
