Ex-Obama Chrysler 300C goes on eBayby Andrew Ganz
President-elect Barack Obama's former Chrysler 300C has come up for sale on eBay - with a startling opening price of $100,000. Though no bids have registered yet for the grey Hemi-powered luxury sedan, the auction is set to continue for another eight days before ending. Obama traded the 300C for a Ford Escape Hybrid in 2007.
The 2005 Chrysler has just 20,000 miles on it, but the asking price reflects a $85,000 premium over a 300C without the provenance of having Obama as the first owner.
Obama's 300C is equipped with a power moonroof, chrome factory wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a navigation system, according to the seller.
Obama bought it new from Park Plaza Chrysler in Forest Park, Illinois, but he traded the gas-guzzling sedan in for a more efficient Escape Hybrid at Hawk Ford in Oak Lawn, Illinois, in 2007. Chrysler kept control of the car until February, 2008, when the seller purchased it directly from the manufacturer.
