Chrysler considering extending production delays

Chrysler says that it's considering extending the production delays it announced a month ago for certain models in order to keep dealers from having too much built-up unsold inventory. Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli told reporters today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit that the automaker hasn't decided what vehicles will be delayed, but that further production halts are to be expected.

Most Chrysler plants were set to reopen in one week after being closed in mid-December, aside from the automaker's Windsor, Ontario, minivan plant and its small Detroit Dodge Viper production facility.

Chrysler says it will evaluate each model's situation on a case-by-case basis.
