Honda pulls out of Frankfurt showby Andrew Ganz
The Internationale Automobil Ausstellung, better known to English speakers as the Frankfurt Motor Show, might be four moths away, but Honda has already made public its decision to skip the show this year. Citing the need to preserve cash, Honda didn't rule out a return to the show in the future.
The biennial show, held in Frankfurt, Germany, is scheduled to open on September 17. The show alternates years with the Paris Motor Show, which was last held in October 2008.
Honda is the first major automaker to pull out of Frankfurt so far. With the global new car market deteriorating, many automakers have taken the opportunity to pull out of costly new car shows across the globe in order to preserve cash and strengthen their presence at two shows that are emerging as the world's most important, the Los Angeles Auto Show and the Geneva Motor Show.
