MINI Coupe and Roadster to bow for 2011MY

Despite a rather limited vehicle lineup, BMW's MINI brand has done quite well for itself over the past few years. However, the storied British marque isn't content to just rest on its laurels, with MINI planning several new models for the coming years.

It's no secret that a larger crossover will soon be joining the MINI ranks, but the British automaker won't be abandoning its small car roots. Although the cars have yet to make their official debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, MINI says production versions of its Coupe and Roadster concepts will be hitting global markets for the 2011 model year.

"Both cars will be produced for the 2011 model year and both will be available on all our world markets," a MINI source revealed to Edmunds.

The MINI Coupe and Roadster concepts are based on the John Cooper Works version of the Cooper, but the production models will likely be offered in base and S trim lines, too.
