2009 Audi Q5 minor safety recall

Audi has announced a recall for more than 6,000 2009 Q5 SUVs over a possibly defective clip in the passenger cabin that can pose a danger during airbag deployment. The issue is affecting a limited run of the Q5 produced between 2008 and 2009.

According to details released by NHTSA, the danger from the defective clip arises in the event of the deployment of the head protection airbags. The defective clips are located in the left and right A-pillars.

The clips in question were found on 2009 Q5s that were manufactured between November 25, 2008 and June 4, 2009.

Audi is going to begin the recall effective January 2010, and will be inspecting and replacing defective clips free of charge.
