Ford builds 500,000th Focus in China
Ford Motor Company says that it has built its 500,000th Focus compact car at its joint-venture assembly plant in Chongqing, China.
Chinese Focus number 500,000 is a silver 1.8-liter four-door sedan, Ford says. The automaker builds the Focus at a joint-venture Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Company assembly plant in central-western China.
Ford says that the plant will begin producing its new third-generation world-market Focus in 2012. The current C-segment Focus built in Chongqing is based on the second-generation European-market model. Ford builds both four-door sedan and five-door hatchback variants in China.
