GM to add 100 jobs at Michigan transmission plant

Thanks to strong market demand, General Motors has announced it will be adding over 100 new jobs at its transmission plant in Warren, Michigan. The 100 new jobs will be added to the second shift of the plant's six-speed transmission line.

"Increased market demand for our great vehicles is driving expansion of our production operations. Additional jobs will allow us to grow the business, while meeting increasing customer demand for our hot products," said Dave Tatman, plant manager.

The Warren plant supplies transmissions for the Chevrolet Equinox, Traverse, Malibu and Impala, Buick LaCrosse, Enclave and Lucerne and GMC Acadia and Terrain. Sales of the Equinox and LaCrosse are up 130 percent and 197 percent, respectively, this year, while Terrain sales are up 245 percent over its predecessor, the Pontiac Torrent.

The Warren plant, which employs 660 workers, makes four- and six-speed transmissions for nine GM models.
