Maserati planning M5 competitor
With cars like the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and BMW M5 in mind, Maserati is reportedly readying a smaller, more affordable version of the Quattroporte sedan. The new model is intended to help Maserati grow its global market share.
Although details remain scarce on the sub- Quattroporte model, AutoExpress claims the new model will list from about $74,000. That price point would not only significantly undercut the $120,000 Quattroporte, but also the $86,000 BMW M5.
Also in the works is a new version of the Quattroporte. Maserati describes the next Quattroporte as "a completely new style, offering outstanding driving emotions and high-level quality."
Despite its high-level of quality, look for the next iteration of the Quattroporte to move a bit down-scale. Whereas the current car list from $120,000, expect Maserati to shave about $10,000 off the price tag of the next Quattroporte. Maserati is hopeful the price reduction will increase the Quattroporte segment share from 3 percent to about 8 percent.
