Infiniti prices first diesel offering

To be a serious player in the European market, an automaker has to have a diesel offering. Nissan's Infiniti luxury brand initially took on Europe without a diesel, leaving the brand at a significant disadvantage. The problem has been rectified, however, with Infiniti announcing pricing for its first ever diesel model.

Although both the Infiniti EX and FX are in line for the diesel treatment, the latter will be the first to hit the European market. The Infiniti FX30d GT will hit the UK market with a price tag of '£45,150, representing just a '£200 premium over its gas counterpart.

The diesel version of the FX will also be available in more sporting S guise. The FX30d S will carry a sticker price of '£47,200, again reflecting a modest '£200 increase over the gas-powered FX37 S.

Like the standard FX models, the diesel variants will come equipped with Infiniti's Safety Shield technology such as Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) with full speed range, Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW). The new crop of FX models will also come packing Infiniti's Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), available for the first time in the European market.
