[Video] Automated underground garage debuts

A fully-automated parking garage in Budapest, Hungary, solves an urban parking dilemma in a decidedly futuristic way.

Faced with an eyesore of a parking lot fronting one of its main cultural attractions, the city of Budapest contracted with a German parking solution company to create an innovative automated underground parking garage.

The result? A computer-controlled system that seems like it's out of a 1960s whiz-bang futuristic sitcom.

With four parking levels capable of holding a total of 404 vehicles, the Woehr Multiparker 730 is an efficient solution to a problem facing most urban areas all over the world. We can't find an estimate of the system's cost - which was no doubt substantial - but that doesn't stop us from enjoying the video.
