Chrysler recalls 367,350 minivans over airbag issue
Chrysler has announced the recall of more than 367,000 minivans over a potential airbag defect.
Chrysler has announced the recall of 367,350 2008 model year Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans over airbag concerns.
According to Chrysler, an air conditioning water leak in some 2008 model year Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans could lead to accidental airbag inflation. Chrysler has received several complaints on the matter, five of which resulted in minor injuries.
Chrysler said it received complaints of water leaks in 2008, but at the time "had no reason to believe that this moisture had any safety consequences." However, an investigation launched last summer determined that water from the leak could penetrate the vehicle's airbag control system, resulting in airbag inflation.
Chrysler will officially begin the recall campaign in February.
