Leaked: 2012 Ford Mustang GT dropped $500, features added

Prior to this report, pricing was only available for the 2012 Mustang Boss and Laguna Seca editions, but now the standard Mustangs have been priced as well.

Ahead of Ford's planned public release date for its 2012 Mustang lineup pricing, details have found their way online that show a price decrease for the base model 5.0-liter powered GT, along with some feature changes and price adjustments up and down across the lineup.

The details, coming from the 2012 Mustang order guides, show several changes to the pricing strategy for Ford's pony car, which includes a key $500 drop to base base GT to an eye-catching $29,995, but also includes price bumps to various trim levels across the lineup. All of these pricing details were found and shared by the folks at MustangDaily, including the feature additions which will be outlined below.

The major pricing changes explained
The biggest news comes in the marketing friendly drop into the sub-$30,000 mark for the Mustang GT base coup, including the $850 destination charge. However, things aren't all good news, as Premium trim level on both V6 and GT models sees a $200 price increase, while the GT Premium convertible saw the largest hike of $700 upward.

Mustang V6 pricing by trim level
Coupe Base $22,995
Coupe Premium $26,895
Convertible Base $27,995
Convertible Premium $31,895

Mustang GT pricing by trim level
Coupe Base $29,995
Coupe Premium $33,895
Convertible Base $34,995
Convertible Premium $38,895

Pricing for the Shelby GT500 stays at $49,495 for the coupe version, and $54,495 for the drop-top, while the Boss 302 comes in at an already announced $40,995 for the base model, and $47,990 for the Boss 302 Laguna Seca Edition.
