Suzuki launches Italy-only Swift Outdoor

The four-wheel drive Swift Outdoor features an allroad-like exterior treatment.

Suzuki's Italian arm has revealed the Swift outdoor, a four-wheel drive version of the city car that is aimed squarely at the recently-introduced Fiat Panda 4 x 4.

Offered exclusively as a five-door hatchback, the Outdoor model is distinguishable from the regular four-wheel drive Swift thanks to a slightly raised ground clearance, flat black trim on the wheel arches and on the rocker panels as well as blacked out door pillars. The look is completed by 16-inch alloy wheels and an air diffuser mounted on the rear bumper.

To help justify the increase in price over a regular four-wheel drive Swift, the Outdoor is equipped with a push-button start and a USB port. The more expensive TOP trim level adds automatic A/C and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Swift Outdoor is only offered with a gasoline-burning 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 94 horsepower and 85 lb-ft. of torque. It is linked to a five-speed manual transmission.

On sale throughout Italy now, the Swift Outdoor carries a base price of €16,616 (roughly $21,700). At the time of writing Suzuki does not plan on offering the car elsewhere in Europe.
