George W. Bush's Ford F-150 sells for $300,000 at Barrett-Jackson
The truck was exclusively used on the former president\'s ranch.
A 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4x4 SuperCrew owned by former president George W. Bush sold for $300,000 at an auction organized by Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jay Leno took the stage to drum up bidders' excitement but the selling price fell short of expectations.
Bush purchased the truck new in Tucson, Arizona, shortly after leaving the White house. The auction listing provided by Barrett-Jackson did not mention how many miles are on the odometer but the number is likely very low because the truck has exclusively been driven on the former president's Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas. Citing safety concerns, Bush explained that he hasn't driven on a public street in "many, many years."
The 310-horsepower truck was sold to an unidentified buyer with a clean Texas title. To dispel potential doubts about the pickup's origins, the sale included a video of Bush and his wife driving it around their ranch and the dashboard is adorned by the former president's signature.
Although $300,000 is about half what most were hoping the truck would sell for, it is considerably more than the roughly $30,000 it would command on a used car lot.
All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Fisher House Foundation, a charity that helps American military families.
