VW celebrates 1 million Sciroccos with special edition model
One million sales is a good reason to celebrate.
Volkswagen is launching a special edition of its Scirocco hatchback to celebrate the nameplate's one-millionth sale.
Introduced in 1974 as a replacement for the Karmann Ghia coupe, the Scirocco enjoyed early success and was subsequently redesigned for the 1981 model year. The second-generation of the Scirocco was produced until 1992.
VW revived the Scirocco nameplate in 2008.
Volkswagen sold a combined 795,650 units of the first- and second-generation Sciroccos, with the third-gen car recently cresting 204,350 sales. All in, VW has sold more than 1 million Sciroccos worldwide.
To celebrate that sales milestone, VW is launching a special edition of the Scirocco, appropriately dubbed the Scirocco Million.
The limited edition model comes finished in black with several unique design cues, including R-Line bumpers, R-Line side sills, smoked taillights, ‘Million' stickers on the front fenders and dark tinted rear windows.
Inside the Scirocco Million sports black leather with orange contrasts.
VW hasn't announced pricing for the Scirocco Million, but the car will only be available in Germany and China.
