MINI teases next-gen Cooper with MINI Vision concept

MINI is previewing the design of its next Cooper.

MINI has unveiled a new MINI Vision concept that previews the brand's next-generation Cooper model. MINI's all-new 2014 Cooper is expected to be introduced at this September's Frankfurt Motor Show.

The MINI Vision features a fresh face highlighted by a new-look hexagonal grille inspired by the original Mini. The Cooper's typical bumper-mounted driving lights are moved to the inner portion of the grille on the MINI Vision, but our recent spy shots show that won't be the case for the production vehicle.

MINI's signature round headlights remain, but the units have been enhanced with LED elements and and an outer ring that is used as the car's daytime running lights.

Anders Warming, Head of MINI Design, says one of the defining features of the MINI Vision is its "clear separation of the roof, glasshouse and body.”

The interior of the MINI Vision is more concept car than production (just take a look at that "MINI Disco” floor) but the design study should give us a good idea of what to expect from the cabin of the 2014 Cooper.

MINI made no mention of what engine powered the MINI Vision, but the next-generation Cooper is expected to eventually adopt a new three-cylinder engine range.
