Chevrolet unveils police-spec 2015 Tahoe
The Chevrolet Tahoe is ready to fight crime.
Chevrolet has unveiled its 2015 Tahoe police patrol vehicle, or PPV for short. The police-spec Tahoe follows the summer unveiling of the civilian version of the SUV.
Like the standard version of the Tahoe, the PPV features updated exterior styling and Chevy's latest EcoTec3 powertrain. Displacing 5.3L, the PPV's V8 engine develops 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The PPV's engines is mated to a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission with a "unique police-service calibration that supports pursuit performance.”
Other police enhancements include an auxiliary battery, 17-inch steel wheels, heavy-duty brakes and an integrated electrical system for police-specific upgrades.
"The Tahoe PPV's versatility and low lifecycle cost have made it a leader among police agencies,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, Fleet and Commercial Sales. "The enhancements to the 2015 model have further refined an already great vehicle to give police officers the performance, speed and safety they need to help keep their communities safe.”
The Tahoe PPV will be available in 2WD pursuit, 4WD pursuit and 4WD special service guises. The Tahoe is Chevrolet's best-selling police vehicle.
