Spied: MINI Traveller
MINI\'s bigger Traveller is nearly ready for its debut.
MINI's long-rumored Traveller MPV has been spotted riding on the back of a flatbed truck in Europe. The Traveller will be the latest addition to MINI's ever-expanding portfolio.
One of 15 new products believed to be under development at MINI, the Traveller promises to be the longest and widest MINI to date. Stretching the term "mini” to the extreme, the Traveller will feature four doors real doors plus double doors at the back in place of a conventional hatch.
It's possible that the Traveller could replace the current Clubman within the MINI lineup.
Other details remain sketchy, but the Traveller, which could make its world debut before the end of 2014, will ride on BMW's new UKL1 front-wheel drive architecture. Three- and four-cylinder engines are likely.
If the idea of super-sized MINI MPV wasn't confusing enough, MINI is also working on a five-door version of its standard Cooper model. That vehicle will essentially be identical to the three-door Cooper, save for the extra pair of rear passenger doors.
