Details emerge on next Mercedes C63 AMG
The C63 will reportedly pack close to 500 ponies.
Mercedes is putting the final touches on the next C63 AMG, and a new report gives us a better idea of what to expect from it.
Aimed squarely at the BMW M3/M4 duo, the next C63 will reportedly be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that will send approximately 480 horsepower to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission. The automaker is not planning on offering a dual-clutch gearbox for a multitude of reasons ranging from cost to customer demand.
Interestingly, a Mercedes source has confirmed to Leftlane that the next C63 will get a hardcore, range-topping S version that will bring more power, upgraded brakes and bespoke visual add-ons inside and out.
Earlier reports indicate the C63 will be offered as a sedan, a coupe, a convertible and a station wagon. All versions will boast a dynamic appearance with beefy bumpers on both ends, side skirts and large alloy wheels mounted on low-profile tires. The AMG-tuned cars will sit noticeably lower than their more humble counterparts thanks to a sport-tuned suspension.
Inside, expect the C63 to pack a performance-focused cockpit with sport seats for the front passengers, a meaty three-spoke steering wheel and an AMG-specific instrument cluster.
