2015 Edge Sport good for 315hp
The new Edge Sport is more powerful than its predecessor.
Ford has announced official performance specs for its latest Edge Sport crossover. The 2015 Edge is scheduled to go on sale this spring.
Equipped with Ford's latest 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine, the 2015 Edge Sport will be good for 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. In comparison, the last-generation Edge Sport, which used a 3.7L naturally-aspirated V6, produced 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.
EPA estimates peg the front-wheel drive version of the 2015 Edge Sport at 18mpg and 27mpg, netting a combined rating of 21mpg. An optional all-wheel drive system will drop those figures to 17/24/20mpg city/highway/combined. Both city figures match those of last year's Edge Sport models, but highway and combined ratings have nudged up by 1mpg.
"The 2015 Edge Sport is exactly what it says it is - a utility vehicle that not only looks beautiful, but is a spirited performer,” said Cristina Aquino, Ford Edge Consumer Marketing manager. "Ford customer research showed there was a strong desire for more in terms of power and content, and with the redesign of Ford Edge, we wanted to give customers a true sport version, which meant bringing the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 along for the ride.”
In addition to its unique 2.7L EcoBoost engine, the Edge Sport also comes equipped with a sports suspension and 20-inch wheels.
The 2015 Ford Edge Sport will arrive with a starting price of $38,100, representing a $500 increase over the 2014 model.
