FCA faces lawsuit over mislabeled differentials
Ram pickups sold with wrong rear axle ratios.
FCA is facing a lawsuit from the owner of a 2014 Ram 1500 over a missing rear axle upgrade.
The suit was filed by the owner in South Carolina after he was notified by FCA that the differential listed on his window sticker was incorrect. Rather than the 3.55:1 ratio listed on the sticker, the truck was equipped with a 3.21:1 rear end, which is rated to tow quite a bit less.
The owner was notified several months after he made his purchase. He was offered a credit for purchasing Mopar accessories, but not an upgrade to the axle that he believed he had purchased.
He's not the only owner in this predicament. According to Automotive News, owners in Colorado, Washington, Oregon and North Carolina have reported the same issue with varying levels of success in seeking remedies.
FCA has not announced the number of trucks affected by the error.
