Hyundai to land former Bentley designer?
Another former VW designer could wind up at Hyundai.
Luc Donckerwolke, the former Bentley designer that made waves earlier this year by calling the Lincoln Continental a Flying Spur knock off, will reportedly take over design duties for the Hyundai-Kia group.
Donckerwolke resigned from Bentley just a few days ago, but the designer has already found a new gig. According to Australia's Motoring, Donckerwolke will head up the design department at Hyundai and Kia.
If true, that would pair Donckerwolke with another Volkswagen Group design defector, Peter Schreyer. Schreyer jumped ship from Audi to Kia's design department in 2006. He has since been promoted to lead the design teams at both Hyundai and Kia.
Schreyer's contract is scheduled to expire in 2017, and the 63-year-old is expected to retire at that point. That would give Donckerwolke two years to learn the ropes of the Korean automaker before taking over full time.
So far Hyundai-Kia hasn't commented on the matter.
