Ford tuning kit upgrades Focus ST to 275 hp, 296 lb-ft of torque
The Mountune kit includes a revised ECU, high-flow intercooler and air intake.
Ford has teamed with Mountune to offer a new performance tuning kit for the Focus ST.
The MP275 package brings the ST's 2.0-liter turbocharged engine up to 275 horsepower and 296 lb-ft of torque when running 93-octane gasoline, an increase of 23 ponies and 26 lb-ft of twist over the stock tune.
Most of the additional power can be attributed to a recalibrated ECU with a more aggressive mapping for more power and a quicker throttle response.
The kit includes upgraded induction components, including a high-flow air filter and a new intercooler, along with Mountune's mTune handset and all installation hardware. When installed by a Ford Performance-certified technician, the modified Focus ST will retain its original factory warranty.
The offering helps narrow the gap between the existing Focus ST and the incoming flagship hatchback, the Focus RS, which boasts 345 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque thanks to its 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine borrowed from the Mustang.
Focus ST owners can purchase the MP275 kit for $1,900, excluding installation costs. The company also offers an optional end cap for the cylindrical air filter to control sound and provide protection in harsh weather conditions.
