Tokyo court rejects Carlos Ghosn bail request

The executive had even offered to wear an ankle tracking device and surrender his passports.

A Tokyo court has again rejected former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn's bail request, extending his months-long detention tied to charges of financial crimes.

The disgraced executive attempted to sweeten his latest petition for bail, offering to wear a monitoring ankle bracelet, surrender his passports, pay a higher amount and even put up his Nissan shares, according to CNBC

"I want to emphasize that I will reside in Japan and respect any and all bail conditions the Court concludes are warranted," he wrote in a statement. "I will attend my trial not only because I am legally obligated to do so, but because I am eager to finally have the opportunity to defend myself. I am not guilty of the charges against me and I look forward to defending my reputation in the courtroom; nothing is more important to me or to my family."

Prosecutors claim Ghosn failed to properly disclose tens of millions of dollars in compensation. He is expected to be detained at least until March.
