Boring Co gets approval to build tunnel under Las Vegas Convention Center
Elon Musk expects the people mover to be operational by the end of the year.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has selected The Boring Company to dig tunnels underneath the city's expansive convention center.
The company will design, construct and operate a people mover that operates in an underground 'loop system' connecting the LVCC's upcoming New Exhibit Hall with the existing North/Central/South Halls.
"The innovative project has the potential to connect Downtown, the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Las Vegas Boulevard Resort Corridor, McCarran International Airport and beyond," the LVCVA said in a statement.
Boring Co chief Elon Musk celebrated the announcement on Twitter, noting that he assumes it will be operational by the end of this year. The company will not have to deal with the same types of red tape that have apparently stymied other projects that pass under multiple properties.
