April Fools: Toyota engineer arrest, Jeep sedan, Lamborghini trailer camper

Toyota's Yaris Adventure answers "a question nobody asked."

Automakers have kept alive the April Fools tradition this year, 'revealing' humorous vehicles and services that will never make it to market.

Toyota's half-pickup 2020 Yaris Adventure claims to answer "the question that nobody asked," while Jeep's Middle East division presented the brand's first sedan (a Chrysler 300 with a Cherokee-inspired front end). Lamborghini showed a supercar-styled camping trailer.

Several announcements were animal-friendly, including Waymo Pet's dog taxi service and Lexus' Enpaw luxury pet transportation program.

Japanese Nostalgic Car may have posted the biggest gotcha of the day, claiming that Toyota Supra chief engineer Tetsuya Tada was arrested by Tokyo prosecutors for conspiring with a BMW powertrain engineer to misappropriate funds that were used to buy cars and properties in Bavaria. Echoing the real-world accusations against former Renault-Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn, Tada held a "lavish, Oktoberfest-themed wedding" in Germany with the funds.
