Dodge Dart faces recall over shift cable failures

Affected vehicles are prone to rollaway if the transmission does not shift into park.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has launched a recall campaign for nearly 300,000 Dodge Dart vehicles, addressing a shifting defect in vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions.

The company warns that the shifter cable bushing may fail, allowing the cable to detach from the transmission.

"If the shifter cable detaches from the transmission, the vehicle may not perform the shifts performed by the driver," the recall notice says. "Additionally, despite selecting PARK with the shifter, the vehicle may roll away."

As of March 29, the company was unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue. The campaign affects vehicles from the 2013-2016 model years.
