Nuro partners with Domino's for autonomous pizza delivery

The pilot project will start in Houston, Texas.

Autonomous technology startup Nuro has teamed with Domino's to autonomously deliver pizzas.

Nuro's first delivery service launched last year via a partnership with national grocery chain Kroger, starting with a limited pilot program in Arizona.

The Domino's autonomous delivery program will initially be focused on Houston, Texas, using the same small pod-like vehicles that were used to bring groceries to customers.

"Domino's is the global leader in pizza delivery, selling 3 million pizzas per day from over 16,000 stores worldwide," Nuro wrote on a blog post. "Together Domino's and Nuro will make pizza delivery even more affordable, accessible, and enjoyable."

Nuro ultimately hopes to become a leader in autonomous deliveries for retail goods and food of all kinds.
