Acura RDX adds support for Amazon Key in-car delivery

The program is available in 50 cities and surrounding areas.

Acura has announced support for Amazon Key in-car deliveries for the 2019 and 2020 RDX.

Available for Amazon Prime members, the service works via the AcuraLink cloud-based system that allows a delivery driver to remotely unlock the vehicle and place a package inside while the owner is at home or work.

Acura provides several different packages for its AcuraLink connected platform. Amazon Key requires the Remote level, which costs $110 per year and also enables remote start/stop, remote lock/unlock, geofence alerts, stolen vehicle locator, destination by voice, and speed alerts.

On delivery day, owners must park within two blocks of their selected delivery address. Packages are dropped off sometime during a four-hour window, with an "arriving now" notification when the delivery driver is heading for the customer's vehicle. After the package is delivered, owners then receive a notification confirming that the vehicle has been locked.
