2018 Acura RLX on sale now

Acura\'s updated RLX is now available nationwide.

Acura's redesigned 2018 RLX and RLX Sport Hybrid officially land in dealer showrooms today. The new RLX has been updated with fresh styling a few mechanical tweaks.

Prices for the entry-level RLX with Precision All-Wheel Steering, also known as P-AWS, will start from $54,900, representing a $450 price hike over the 2017 model year RLX. The 2018 RLX Sport Hybrid will list from $61,865, or $1,950 more than last year. However, the 2018 RLX Sport Hybrid now comes standard with the previously optional Advance Package, netting an apples-to-apples net savings of $4,050. All prices exclude a mandatory $965 destination charge.

The 2018 RLX arrives with new styling that includes the latest version of Acura's corporate mesh grille, a more sculpted hood, new wheel designed, new-look LED taillights and exposed dual exhaust outlets. Seven exterior paint colors are available, six of which are new for the 2018 model year.

Inside the RLX is mostly carryover, but the premium sedan does receive a new seat design with Milano leather upholstery that features contrasting stitching and piping. An Espresso interior color is also knew, as is an available black headliner.

The 2018 RLX P-AWS soldiers on with a 3.5L V6 rated at 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque, but swaps out last year's six-speed auto for a new 10-speed unit. The 2018 RLX Sport Hybrid, which uses a V6 linked to three electric motors, is rated at 377 horsepower and 341 lb-ft of torque.

Interestingly, fuel economy for both RLX models has decreased for the 2018 model year. Even with four additional gears, the 2018 RLX could only muster 20/29/23mpg city/highway/combined, compared to 20/30/23mpg for the outgoing car. Fuel economy for the RLX Sport Hybrid dropped from 29/30/29mpg to 28/29/28mpg.
