Chrysler Group has finalized its North American distribution network for the Alfa Romeo brand, initially awarding the franchises to 86 dealers.
Alfa Romeo dealers will be located in 33 states, with the heaviest concentration in California, Texas and Florida. The pool is dominated by existing Fiat dealers, save for three Maserati showrooms.
Dealers will first focus on the 4C, a two-seater sports car that blends futuristic styling with elements inspired by Alfa's sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s. Power is provided by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 240 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
To celebrate the US debut, the first batch of 500 4Cs will be called the Launch Edition with carbon-fiber trim, LED headlights, unique rims and other upgraded features.
The franchise list represents just the first phase in Alfa Romeo's return to the US market, where the company expects to eventually support 300 franchises. The move is part of a broader revival for the brand itself, with eight new models slated for introduction by 2018.
