Alfa Romeo Giulia earns IIHS' Top Safety Pick Plus award
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is as safe as it is sporty.
Alfa Romeo's new Giulia mid-size sports sedan has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's top rating of Top Safety Pick+.
The Giulia nabbed the IIHS' top rating by scoring "good” in all crash tests, as well as earning top marks of "superior” for its automatic braking systems and "good” for its bi-xenon projector headlamps. However, it should be noted that Forward Collision Warning-Plus — the system responsible for the Giulia's "superior” rating in automatic emergency braking — is a $500 option.
"The Giulia represents the height of Alfa Romeo engineering and technology so no effort was spared when it came to the vehicle's performance and safety features,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Alfa Romeo. "We're honored to receive this award from IIHS as it shows our commitment to creating state-of-the-art vehicles.”
Spearheading Alfa Romeo's return to the U.S. market, the Giulia is a premium mid-size sedan aimed at the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The Giulia carries a base price of $37,995.
