James Bond to go electric

007 will drive an Aston Martin Rapide E in the next film.

James Bond is going green. In the next 007 movie, scheduled to debut in April 2020, the British secret agent played by Daniel Craig will drive a Aston Martin Rapide E.

The Rapide E sedan, of which only 155 will be made, is said to produce 602 horsepower and have a top speed of 155 mph. Its 65 kWh battery will have. a range of 200 miles at least, and will be driven by its rear wheels via two electric motors.

According to The Guardian, the new Bond movie, tentatively called Shatterhand, saw a shift to the electric car because new director Cary Joji Fukunaga is a strong environmental conservationist. Reportedly, Craig and the producers are "going along with.” Presumably, that'll mean no more ecologically irresponsible oil slicks or heat-seeking missiles emerging from the car either.

The Aston Martin brand has been part of the film franchise ever since the DB5 starred in the 1964 movie Goldfinger.
