Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Concept confirmed for production

Just 99 examples of the Vanquish Zagato will be built.

Aston Martin has announced the Vanquish Zagato concept that was shown about a month ago at the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance has been given the green light for production.

The British firm explains the Vanquish Zagato started life as merely a concept, but "unprecedented interest" from customers ultimately convinced it to bring the model to production. The design study will change little in its transition from a concept (pictured) to a production car. Set to launch as a coupe only, it will retain a grille with Z-shaped inserts, striking air vents behind the front wheel arches, a double-bubble roof, and round tail lamps.

Inside, carbon fiber trim will provide a subtle hint that the coupe's body is made entirely out of the composite material.

Power for the Vanquish Zagato will come from a naturally-aspirated, 6.0-liter V12 engine rated at nearly 600 horsepower. The twelve-cylinder will spin the rear wheels via an automatic transmission, though performance specifications haven't been published yet.

There's a catch: Just 99 examples of the Vanquish Zagato will be built, and the coupe is certain to sell out fast. The first deliveries are scheduled for early next year, but pricing information hasn't been revealed yet.
