Bentley Continental GT sets production car record at Pikes Peak
The W12-powered coupe shaved 8.4 seconds from the previous record.
Bentley is celebrating another Pikes Peak accomplishment after breaking the outright production-car record with the Continental GT.
Powered by a W12 engine and piloted by Pikes Peak veteran Rhys Millen, the coupe completed the 12.42-mile course in 10:18.488 minutes, beating the previous record by more than eight seconds.
"This is an amazing finish to a wet, snowy 2019 run at Pikes Peak!" Millen said after completing the run. "Today was a challenge with what Mother Nature threw at us, but the Continental GT held strong all the way to the top, and we are now Number One."
Bentley's Bentayga last year set a record for production SUVs, climbing to the 14,100-foot finish line in 10:49.9 minutes to beat the existing benchmark by nearly two minutes.
