BMW prices 740e xDrive iPerformance ahead of US arrival
The plug-in hybrid can be purchased for just over $90,000.
BMW has announced US pricing and launch details for its 740e xDrive iPerformance, one of the first models to join the company's new sub-brand for electrified vehicles.
Already in production, the plug-in hybrid sedan will sell for $90,095 (including $995 freight) when it lands in US showrooms. The price represents a $4,600 premium over the non-hybrid 740i xDrive, which matches the hybrid's 5.1-second zero-to-60 mph benchmark.
Like the rear-wheel-drive 740e iPerformance, the new xDrive variant is powered by a downsized four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine and an electric motor in its eight-speed automatic transmission. Together, the systems produce 326 horsepower and 359 lb-ft of torque.
Drivers will be able to cruise in all-electric mode for up to 14 miles (EPA estimate) and speeds of up to 75 mph. The package boasts a combined fuel economy of 64 MPGe, however BMW has not yet announced its efficiency numbers for gasoline-only operation.
US buyers will have a chance to pick up the 740e xDrive iPerformance later this month.
