BMW's one-off M850i Night Sky features meteorite inlay, 3D-printed brake calipers
Meteoric rock adorns the trim plate, start/stop button and the shift lever.
BMW has revealed the M850i xDrive Coupe Night Sky, a one-off creation crafted by the company's Individual Manufaktur team.
The Night Sky theme centers around unique meteorite inlay inside the cabin, covering the trim plate, start/stop button, shift lever and other surfaces. The extraterrestrial iron slices feature a distinct etched Widmanstätten surface pattern that cannot be reproduced on Earth.
Engineers also created a new lightweight brake caliper employing generative design processes, resulting in a bionic bone-like structure that sheds material without negatively affecting necessary strength characteristics.
Special LED project a star-studded sky pattern onto the center console armrests and other cabin surfaces.
The one-off Night Sky edition is finished in San Marino Blue metallic paint over a black base coat. Three layers of clear coat contain additional pigment particles to give the paint a sense of depth.
The coupe was unveiled in the run-up to the Quadrantid meteor shower, which peaked Thursday night.
