Spied: BMW M5 shows off its interior
New spy shots reveal the M5\'s interior layout.
Spy photographers have managed to snap the first interior images of BMW's next-generation M5 super sedan.
As you'd expect, the M5 interior closely mirrors that of the latest 5 Series sedan, which debuted late last year. However, the M5 receives an M-specific gauge cluster as well as some other Motorsports touches — notice the blue and red stitching on the leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The M5 will also have a few unique features for its free-standing center display. M5 drivers will be able to use that screen to toggle through different driveline settings, including shifting the car from all-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive.
BMW is keeping tight-lipped about the M5's drivetrain, but it's expected to use a 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 tuned to produce at least 600 horsepower. Due to low demand BMW will kill off the M5's optional six-speed manual transmission. In it's place will be an eight-speed auto.
BMW will unveil its next-generation M5 at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Following that unveiling the M5 should go on sale sometime in 2019.
