Bugatti recalls two examples of the Chiron

This is one of the industry\'s smallest recalls.

Bugatti will recall just two examples of the Chiron in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This stands out as one of the industry's smallest recalls.

The NHTSA explains the duo's side airbag modules are installed in the wrong position. The airbag could cause a burn hole if it's deployed in this position, and it's not as effective at protecting the occupants.

Normally, owners of cars affected by recalls need to take a morning or an afternoon off and visit the nearest dealer to get the problem fixed. Not here. Bugatti is sending its in-house Flying Doctors directly to the cars. The defective module is located in the seat so they'll remove the entire seat and fly back with it to Molsheim, France, where Bugatti's headquarters are located.

The firm doesn't make its own parts; every component needed to put together a Chiron comes from an outside supplier. The seats will be shipped to Sparco, the manufacturer, where they will be repaired and sent back to Molsheim before traveling back to the United States with the flying doctors. This all comes free of charge, of course.

This isn't the first time Bugatti has run into issues with the Chiron's seats. In 2017, Bugatti recalled the entire production run to examine a potential problem with the welds that hold the seat together.
