GM reveals all-new Encore, long-wheelbase Encore GX

The latest Encore siblings are inspired by the Buick Enspire.

General Motors has revealed the redesigned Buick Encore and its new long-wheelbase counterpart, the Encore GX, at the Auto Shanghai show.

The all-new Encore takes inspiration from the Enspire concept that debuted a year ago. The smaller Encore features a slightly more aggressive styling, while the larger GX is a bit more toned down.

"With the two new additions, the Encore family will offer an unprecedented choice in its segment," says GM China Design executive director Ryan Vaughan. "It will provide our customers a more personalized offering to match their active and changing lifestyles."

Since its arrival in 2012, the Encore has become a particularly important model for Buick's US revival. The small crossover accounted for nearly half of the brand's total US sales last year, apparently demonstrating that American buyers may not be hesitant to buy vehicles that are made in China.
