GM working on Bolt-based Buick crossover?

The Buick EV is said to be a rebadged Bolt with a few styling tweaks and unique interior elements.

General Motors is reportedly planning to launch a Buick-badged electric vehicle based on the Chevrolet Bolt.

Despite concerns that the Bolt is only being produced in low numbers for customers in a few states -- serving primarily as a compliance tool -- Chief executive Mary Barra recently promised the platform will eventually spawn a "huge range" of vehicles.

A source that claims to have attended a confidential GM focus group told InsideEVs the company previewed a Buick model that appears to be a rebadged Bolt with a few styling tweaks. It is described as Encore- or Chevy Trax-like.

The focus group attendee says the upscale EV will get slightly more rear legroom than the Bolt, a floating roof, unique LED headlights, a larger center touchscreen, higher quality interior materials and better seats.

If and when the Buick model arrives on the market, it is expected to fetch a $3,000 premium over the Chevy edition.
