Cadillac previews XT5 ahead of Dubai debutby Justin King
The teaser images confirm CT6-inspired styling, as seen in earlier leaked photos.
General Motors has released a few official pictures of the forthcoming Cadillac XT5, due to make its formal debut next month in Dubai.
The photos provide a look at the crossover from a new new angles, adding to the undisguised shots that surfaced earlier this year and spy shots of a development prototype captured nearly a year ago.
The XT5's styling is consistent with Cadillac's latest design language, introduced with the CT6 sedan. Both share a similar grille, headlights and LED daytime running lights, among other elements. The official photos show a metallic brown paint scheme, along with plenty of chrome or satin metallic trim pieces.
The new crossover is expected to be similar in size to its predecessor, the current SRX, with seating for five passengers. The interior will likely be thoroughly redesigned, though the inside has been successfully kept under wraps ahead of a formal unveiling. The company is expected to eventually add a seven-seat model and a smaller crossover, both carrying different XT-series nameplates.
Powertrain details remain unclear, but rumors point to a turbocharged four-cylinder engine as a potential candidate for the entry-level XT5. Higher packages will likely be outfitted with a choice between several V6 powerplants.
Cadillac's first XT-badged crossover will be officially introduced in November ahead of the Los Angeles auto show.
